Theory

The coordinate plane uses an \(x\)-axis and \(y\)-axis to locate points by ordered pairs \((x,y)\).

An ordered pair:

The origin is \((0,0)\).

How to plot a point

  1. Start at the origin.
  2. Move \(x\) right (or left if negative).
  3. Move \(y\) up (or down if negative).
  4. Mark the point.
